It’s really gotten to the point lately where if I hear about or see a show and it doesn’t have ANY body diversity at all I don’t really wanna engage. lots of new fun looking media, but I’m tired of all these skinny people protagonists. I’d even take one of them being buff if you’re too afraid/cowardly to make one fatter. I’ll even take fake ‘plus size’ (where it’s just realistic body proportions not even fat). But it’s almost an impossible bar to have.

Book designs for the ringbearers (in order)

The second Bilbo has long, graying hair that reaches well past his shoulders. He wears traveling clothes complete with a navy blue cloak. He smirks back at the camera.

The first image shows Frodo as a tall, white, chubby hobbit with short dark hair and brown eyes. He smiles happily, a healthy blush on his cheeks. The second Frodo has long, scraggly hair pulled into a messy ponytail. He is emaciated, too-big shirt hanging off his shoulders, with sunken eyes and heavy scarring across his chest in a circular radius from where the ring rested. He's covered in dirt and blood. He stares into the distance with a hopeless expression.

Sam is a short, tan, fat hobbit with short red hair, freckles, and brown eyes. He smiles up at Frodo. In the second image, Sam is a little thinner, skin more pallid. His hair has grown longer and unkempt and he is covered in dirt and blood. He has a slight scar where the ring rested against his chest. In both images, Frodo and Sam are holding hands. End ID]

Funny thought where I’m clearly the target audience:

Human from the 21st Century trying to adjust to the future and their alien friend wants to help them, so they take stuff that was popular during the Human’s time in the past and put a current century spin on it

And it’s also done with the intent to make the Human happy, so a lot of it is like “joke” gifts, which were really funny at the time they were making the jokes, and had a sweet reason behind them

But it’s now embarrassing and humiliating as hell for the Human to sit there and explain why they had stuff like a pinup actual-to-goodness-paper calendar of different actual alien species done in the style of earth retro pinup aliens in their cabin to their captain

And also the Human is v much not the type you’d expect to have stuff like that, so the captain is just absolutely bewildered by the entire odd collection
